New versions of Microsoft software will not run on Windows XP

April 26, 2010

In an attempt to get users off Windows XP, Microsoft has announced that two of their newest programs will not run under Windows XP.  Internet Explorer 9 and Windows Live Essentials both cannot be installed on Windows XP Professional or Home.

While both of these software packages are optional, expect to see more programs from Microsoft and third party companies to drop support for Windows XP in the future.  This only makes sense as Windows XP is more than 10 years old.
